Hydrobed
Lie back, completely clothed, on the table. Just under the surface is a mattress filled with heated water. A Jacuzzi a pump propels the warm water towareds you through three patented hydrojets. The pressure of the water against your body provides a very effective deep tissue massage. The combination of flotation, heat and massage produce the therapeutic effects and are described below.
Flotation: Water is extremely buoyant. When the body is placed on the water mattress, there is minimal strain on the weight-bearing joints. Few, if any, muscles are required to hold the body up or in position. This helps the patient's body relax resulting in an increased physoologic response to treatment.
Heat: Heat is evenly conducted through the skin and into the muscles and soft tissues of the body. The heat expands blodd vessels, increases blood and lymphatic circulation, increases metabolism and has a sedative effect.
Massage: Trigger points in the muscles induce a cycle of spasm, pain, tension, weakness and limited range of motion. As the massage works a pressure point, the muscle tension yields to the pressure of the water, enabling the fibers to elongate and relax, blood to flow freely and toxins to be released and eliminated.
Stimulation these "pressure points" triggers the release of enorphins. These neutochemicals relieve pain. As the pain subsides the muscles relax, enabling your manual terapies to be more effective.
